I was hoping that our finches would like this thistle seed I was hoping that our finches would like this thistle seed, but they don’t. My wife recently bought a mesh type, hanging feeder, with nyjer seed in it, and it attracted so many yellow finches, we couldn’t believe it. They decimated the full bag in a little over a week. So, I checked Amazon, to see if I could find a less expensive seed, as the nyjer is extremely expensive. I was hopeful that the thistle seed would do the trick. The first few days we hung it, we had a few birds try it out…
Only Seed That Brings the Gold Finches This is super food if you want to attract gold finches and house finches. I just love them and they are such singers. House finches will show up for regular seed but I don’t have luck with the beautiful gold finches unless i put out the thistle or nyjer seed. This was priced great because it usually is “gold” seed, as bad as meal worms for pricey feed but this was a lucky find at a wonderful price.
why don’t birds like it so this is the second time i ordered seed online and had the same result. NEVER again. First time i ordered Wagners no finches would come around at all to a feeder that with any other nyjer seed would be packed. It attracted roof rats more than birds.I thought it was just the batch. I picked up some KAYTEE seed at the hardware store and the feeder was once again packed with finches, when they like the food the can clear the feeder in 3 days. And then i ordered Morning Song. My mistake…
