First Choice in Feeders Since I purchased this reasonably-priced feeder locally several seasons ago, it has consistently baffled the abundant squirrel population in my yard. Its gridded-exterior metal cage accommodates lots of clinging birds with its multiple ports and is their “go to” feeder. Bad design. This feeder has a major flaw. The plastic inserts (3) split at the seams making it impossible for the birds to access the ports. When they split, they sink down lower which blocks the ports. They need to add a metal rim to the top of each plastic section so that the seams cant split and open.
Owned two and ready for number three I’ve gone through my second one because the plastic inserts crack and the center tube loses its function, but I will still buy a third (or new inserts if available) because it is the most active feeder one can imagine with all twelve ports in action. Yes, the seed platform in each section gets wet in heavy rain but cleaning it isn’t the big challenge others complain about.
