Helping to protect my mango tree Mango tree… squirrels… birds = need help. These items along with some deer repellent (sprayed at the base of the tree) seemed to help deter the animals. Though a few more mangoes were eaten, I’m happy that I purchased these owls. They seem to be able to take the heat, rain, etc. well (in South Florida.) And, they look pretty nice as well. I’d recommend adding them to your “safe, but effective” keep-away-from-my-fruit toolkit.
The Reflected Light is the Key! I put these owls up because of hawks. They make a meal of the desert prairie dogs, ground squirrels and baby rabbits. They then proceed to eat them n front of you, before flying with the carcass and screeching at you.
