scott’s knowingly added pesticides that kill birds I don’t buy scott’s bird seed anymore. not since I bought some and 2 of my hens died. My hens free range, and so they also eat what falls out of the bird feeder. Turns out scott’s decided to put pesticides on their seed to increase shelf life- knowing that the pesticide was in fact toxic to birds. Amazon – why are you selling this poison? I bought this product never dreaming that Amazon would sell a product that EPA found was intentionally poisoning birds. I came back to buy it again and decided to read reviews because the ratings were so low. That is how I discovered that it is a poison for birds (and any animal that eats it) disguised as birdseed.
WARNING SCOTTS PUT INSECTICIDES IN BIRDSEED Scotts was ordered to pay $12.5 million for 11 criminal violations regarding their birdseeds. They admitted they used two unapproved insecticides even though the warning labels read, “extremely toxic to fish and toxic to birds and other wildlife.” They knowingly continued this practice for TWO YEARS even after EMPLOYEES WARNED MANAGEMENT. They then submitted false documents to the EPA. Scotts pled guilty to all charges. DO NOT BUY SCOTTS/MIRACLE-GRO PRODUCTS!
