Beautiful feeder, but not meant for large birds This Heath feeder is well-made and lovely to look at. Very sturdy construction; the feeder tray is ample enough to accomodate 4-6 small songbirds at a time. Goldfinches have flocked to it – I’ve even witnessed half a dozen hanging out on the fence, waiting for their turn! It is easy to fill, and holds almost two pounds of seed.Edit, May 2014: Apparently, larger birds have no problem raiding this feeder, as I have witnessed blue jays doing just that!
Happy birds Good, sturdy and birds seem to like it. I do think next time I would prefer a similar model but larger to hold more than 2 days of seed.
I went out on a limb! I bought this feeder and another for my sons birthday. He took up container gardening after seeing mine last year. He bought a home built in 1929 and I thought this would look good in the yard. He loved it! It’s well built and should last for years.
