Can only empty water toward one spot below This birdbath lives up to it’s advertisement in that it truly does keep water from freezing regardless of how cold it gets. Currently, I have it resting on the empty flower box cage that is on outside of the fence that abuts my patio. Without it being affixed to the fence as designed, this set up allows me to better direct the discarded water to slightly different areas below. Tippy and hard to install It works nicely as far as keeping the water temperature perfect in below freezing weather. We had some difficulty installing it on our deck railing (2 x 4) and leveling the birdbath. Eventually, a trip to the lumberyard was necessary to get a piece that is 2×6 to nail on our deck railing. Installation went much better on the 2×6. Also needed some thin pieces of wood to shim it up and level it. The “latch” to keep it from tipping is not too secure and a squirrel jumped on the far…
Best heated bird bath This is the best headed birdbath. We have one on a pedestal (works great on a pedestal, just don’t attach the included deck railing tilting mechanism) and one on a deck railing. I don’t know what the birds would have done without our food or this bath for water during the past cold winter. In the summer, we just unplug the device and use it as a regular bird bath.
