  1. The Hummingbirds Choice I’ve tried 6 different types of hummingbird food – different colors, mixes (add water, add sugar, boil, ready-made, etc.). This is the only one I’ve tried that consistently and quickly attracts hummingbirds, regardless of season. Two of the types I’ve tried, the birds actively avoid. Three of them find moderate use. First Nature is far and above the choice of hummingbirds, every week and every season. It’s been inconsistently present at local hardware stores, so I’m shifting to ordering it…

  2. RED FOOD DYE CAN POISON HUMMINGBIRDS The red dye (FDA #40) used in this (and all other hummingbird foods) is made from coal tar. Think about it. The amount of red dye consumed by a hummingbird is huge, like you drinking a 10 gallon jug. While there are no definative studies on the effects of red dye on humans (or hummingbirds) the amount consumed by hummingbirds versus humans is hundreds if not thousands of times greater. Coal tar is not a recommended food in large quantities for either humans or birds. FDA 40 red dye is banned…

  3. This is going back as soon as it’s delivered! My husband ordered this product along with a new hummingbird feeder. $15 for four cups of sugar!!! Plus it contains red dye! The liquid you place in a hummingbird feeder does not have to be red–the dye is not good for them. All you need is a feeder that has some red on it and they will find it. Make your own
