Excellent feeder after a simple modification This feeder was ignored by the birds for about a month. The problem was the short 1.25 inch perch beneath each feeding opening. Even the smallest birds like finches and buntings had difficulty using it. I was going to throw it out but got an idea. The too-short perch pegs were snipped off with a pair of diagonal cutters. Perch configuration is mis-designed The feeder is well-made for the price and I like the overlap of the lid that provides a better seal against rain. However there is a design error regarding the perches: because the perches are perpendicular to the feeding holes, the birds need to really twist their necks/bodies to get into the feeder holes.
