SQUIRRELS “NO MORE” Effectively Simple – see my photo for install instructions Perfect solution. Love watching the squirrels attempting to evade the new barrier. They climb up the slick metal conduit pole like a tree branch, then go inside the torpedo, turn around upside down, try to grab it’s slick surface, but the moving bottom end freaks them out (pivots on the mounting clamp in the cone area). Our bird feeder is mounted at about 7 ft above the ground on a 1″ dia EMT conduit. The Supplied pole clamp fit just right, after removing the two small screw spacers…
So far, so good… Maybe my squirrels are dumber than most, but this baffle seems to do the trick. I haven’t seen one get past it yet. I had one run up the pole and enter the bottom of the baffle. His whole body, tail and all, disappeared into it and he stayed there a while. I guess he finally realized it wasn’t an elevator, and he gave up and came back down. Now they are content to sit below the feeders and eat what my messy birds knock out. I do like the narrow, six inch diameter. It sits completely…
Amazing how well it works. I mounted this about 5 feet up a pole. The squirrels have not found a way around it. They start up the pole, go about half way up, and give up. They have spent a lot of time trying to figure another way up to the bird feeders, so far, no go. It is not difficult to put on a pole. I have a 2 part shepherds hook pole. I slid the baffle up the “upper” pole, then slid up the mounting bracket and tightened the screws, the baffle slides down over the mounting bracket, resting on the top…
After tightening the coupler it slides down the pole.
I’ve found that if the pole is a little small or the screw doesn’t grip well, try wrapping a strip of duct tape around the pole where the screw will be when tightening it. That will stop it from sliding down the pole!
