  1. Classic book and still the best Definitely 5 stars. As a beginner back in 1987 I was constantly frustrated by other bird books. If I saw a bird I had to thumb through the entire book to try to find a picture or drawing of it. The layout of this book is perfect. First you go to the profile of the type of bird, then the color. Advanced birders found this amusing, but, for example, as a beginner if I saw a yellow sparrow looking bird how in the world did I know to immediately go to the warbler section? I didn’t.   2. Love this bird book! Excellent field guide. Loveeee the vinyl cover! Great pics. My new ‘go to’ bird reference guide to toss in my backpack. And the sellers quality of used books blew my mind!   3. Great field guide, but not the best. Another nice field guide I added to my Audubon collection, but I only gave it 4 stars because you can only identify a plant by the flower. Leaves are not the main focus in the photos, neither is the whole plant. So if you find a plant not in bloom… good luck! Photos are only of the flower part and sometimes just a partial closeup (some elongated clusters for example) which can make it hard to identify similar looking flowers like all the little white Asters or yellow Buttercups.
