  1. Sibley vs. National Geo I first bought NG Field Guide to The Birds after reading a lot of reviews, but then had a chance to use The Sibley Guide to the Birds at a B&B. I instantly liked Sibley better and bought one. Here is why: 

  2. A VERY VALUABLE AND VALID GUIDE. I recently replaced my old edition of this work with this, the fifth edition and must say I am quite pleased. I am one of those individuals (like many birders) who rely on a number of field guides and reference books. The previous edition of this work has for a number of years been one of the pillars I rely on. 

  3. Great first field guide for beginners First off, I am a novice birder so take that into account when reading my opinion of this book. I have recently gotten into birding and decided to purchase this book as one of my choices (the other was the Sibley Western/Eastern North America which I will compare to in this review.) The layout of the book is very easy to navigate; photos on one side, text on the other.
