  1. Smithsonian Field Guide to the Birds of North America I am a new birder, and this book is absolutely the most helpful book I could find. The photographs are excellent so that you can easily identify new birds and the information helps you learn more about birds you are already familiar with and the ones you are not. In the back there is a DVD with bird songs and I highly recommend watching it to anyone (birder or non-birder)…you will love it. I keep this book handy, close to me all day. I recommend it to new birders or experienced birders…

  2. The Only Bird Book You Will Ever Need This is the only bird identification book you will ever need. Plus, it comes with a CD so that you can hear the various sounds of every bird listed. We have found this book to be excellent entertainment for those evenings when there’s nothing on the tube and we’d like to learn something useful. Fantastic photos, real-life bird sounds, excellent descriptions, sturdy construction–you will love this book!

  3. Concise, Visually Appealing, Informative. This a visually appealing book with tons of information and well categorized. I am not a die hard birder but needed a book that was easy to navigate and give me plenty of information about the subject. This book was absolutely perfect for my needs. It is well written and more often than not gives you additional pictures of the young birds. The accompanying CD is a great plus too. Like I said I am not a serious birder and for me there is nothing more frustrating than to hear a bird…
