From the expert editors at Cool Springs Press, a series of regional bird books that love the outdoors as much as you do. “Patience is a virtue,” said no backyard bird ever. That’s why, when these busy creatures come flitting into view, you need to have your resources ready at a moment’s notice. Have you spent all this time mistaking the Black-crowned Night Heron for the American Bittern? A forgivable error, but with the Field Guide to Backyard Birds of the Northeast, you’ll be distinguishing between juveniles and adults in no time. Each book in this series has been conveniently packaged in a field-sized 5”x8” format: large enough to showcase the gorgeous close-up photography within, but small enough to keep dependably at the ready. In this edition, each of the Northeast region’s 80 most popular bird species gets its own page, complete with a concise description, preferred habitat, feeding and migration habits, and tips for attracting them to your bird feeders. Illustrated with colorful range maps, vibrant images, and a brilliant tabbed layout that helps you quickly search for birds by color, this portable field book will never again let that elusive Scarlet Tanager out of your watchful skyward gaze. Northeastern states include Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Look for our other four Field Guide to Backyard Birds titles, covering the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, South, and West regions of the United States.

New books I’m glad to have these up here in northern New York, and my neighbors have been using them too to check out the birds we have in our backyards
Two Stars not as thorough as I thought it would be. Very basic book.
NE Birds I imagined the book bigger in size. I also expected more birds with more detail. This was a gift so I don’t know how they feel about it.
