Fave book to take in the field If you like birding in northern CA, this book is awesome! Smaller size easily fitsin a coat or fleece pocket without the weight of larger book. The easy format and stellar photos make this our fave bird book. (No more weeding thru the flamingos and eastern birds that aren’t in our area!) I also researched various books and respected the authors’ credentials.
Great Photos and Information I’m not a birder but my husband and I take lots of hikes and we enjoy watching and identifying local birds. This is a helpful book with good photos and interesting “Did you know?” sections. While walking at Lake Temescal recently we spotted an unfamiliar bird with a heron-like shape. I whipped out our book and learned it was a Green Heron. Great fun!
