  1. Compact and detailed It fits a lot of birds into a small, travel-sized book. It may not have the details needed for some of the more challenging identifications and distinctions, but that’s expected with a small field guide. I had trouble finding many books that cover Nicaragua, but I ended up using it a lot in Mexico, too, and love that it can cover so much territory.

  2. Light-weight and comprehensive I needed a light-weight field guide for my first birding trip to western coast of Mexico. This guide has illustrations and brief descriptions of each bird, allowing for rapid identification. The species range maps, located at the back of the book, are quite small and hard to see; otherwise I found this book to be what I needed.

  3. Disappointed The illustrations are not true to life at all compared to the National Geographic field guide, the images are very small and the design of the book is not user friendly. The range maps are awkwardly in an entirely different section of the book making it difficult to identify birds in your area. Overall an inferior product compared to other birding books I have purchased.
