This book is color coded, and easy to follow, with just enough information to identify, no what they eat, what they are attracted to and what season you can spot them.   2. Wonderful for our 8 year old son My 8 year old son devoured this book as soon as we took it out of the Amazon box. Great pictures, birds organized according to color making it easy to locate birds, just enough info without being overwhelming for beginning bird watcher. For several hours I heard, “Mom, did you know….” as he excitedly showed me birds he has seen and told me info from the book.

  3. Great Purchase! I bought this book for my grand daughter who is 6 years old. She is a voracious reader, but this book would be good for a child who doesnt read since it is filled with many pics of birds that are Illinois specific. My daughters family live is a birdhouse. The reason I say this is because their house is made to have all their living space on the second level.
