  1. An Excellent Bird Book Does it include most bird species in North Dakota? Not even close. Is it good for beginners and general reference? Absolutely. The organization is Stan Tekiela’s books is phenomenal for amateur birders (organized by color, visible from outside). It’s compact, light, and fairly weather-resistant. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it should be at least as inclusive as his Minnesota bird book.

  2. Perfect This is a perfect little book. The birds are organized by color, and very easy to locate with a color key, visible at the page edges. Alternatively, you can look up specific birds via the index in the back. The photos are full size on one page, with text and map on the facing page. The format is usually one large photo of the bird as you’re most likely to spot it, with additional smaller photos of variants. (Sex, age, season, color morphs, etc.) This is especially handy…

  3. A Good Buy for Bird Watchers. Helpful, but not all inclusive. Had a lot of good information and the pictures are wonderful. Good purchase.
