  1. Nice Idea, But Cheaper To Make Your Own…And Beware Of Cats! I saw these recently over the past summer at a seed store and picked one up for my Mom…It was expensive, but I knew she would like it. It took a while, but some sparrows eventually settled in there and she enjoyed it very much. Since then I have made two of my own for much less than the price of what this cost. I bought the nest boxes at a local Mill Store and then a large piece of plexiglass and some suction cups at an arts and craft outlet. I then removed the back of the bird house and attached the plexiglass I had cut to size to it and added suction cups. (4 of them, and it still came out cheaper). Taking everything into account I made these for less than half of what they are going for here. (And incidentally, I saved nothing on buying it locally either)…I not only got birds in the three I put up, but they are also attracting over night visitors here in the winter… Birds in cold climates are known to use old nest boxes as sort of an over night hostel when the weather…
