  1. Deterrent to the squirrels! I use a lot of nut and bug blocks to feed the variety of birds in my yard. I’ve found that the squirrels and raccoons like them as much as the birds do and it’s really hard to keep them off my feeders. They are both really smart and determined. One thing I noticed about the cylinders is that they seem to have a harder time getting the feed off of it. The birds don’t seem to have a problem and it also seems to be a favorite.   2. Birds love this, but so does a raccoon! This product attracts cardinals and other song birds and deserves five stars except for one problem. It must use a sweet binder which was apparently irresistible to a raccoon. I first put chunks of the product in birdseed mesh socks and found them destroyed the next morning. Then I put some in a metal mesh birdseed feeder and the next morning it was gone! I saw a golfer throw it back in our yard, so the raccoon obviously carried it off a long way.   3. Great product! First you must have a holder for these. I received mine as a gift and as there is no store nearby that sells these cylinders it is great that I can buy them on Amazon.The good. My birds LOVE these! In addition to my regular feeder birds such as Cardinals, Chickadees, Titmice and Finches, with these cylinders I now see Wrens, assorted Warblers, Thrashers, and various other birds that don’t normally visit any other feeder.
