Contributed to My Bird’s Death Started feeding this as a treat a little over a year ago to my adult Moluccan. It was a treat in addition to regular pellets, only about 1/4 cup a day as compared to the package recommendation of 1 cup per day.Recently noticed dire changes and brought him to the vet hospital where he soon seized and died … contributing to the issue was a severe calcium and potassium imbalance, most likely from this seed mixture, according to the doctors.
Yellow naped amazon loves it and looks healthier My in-laws have a 35 year old yellow naped amazon. They had to move in with me after their home was flooded. That poor bird had lost a lot of feathers and he was a dull green. They were feeding him junk. After feeding him this bird seed (which he loves!) for several months his feathers grew back and he is a vibrant green color and has a better disposition. This is great parrot food (at least for yellow naped amazons).
