Plastic not “Highest quality – strong metal” + no bottom hooks provided I’ve added a number of feeders – hummingbird, meal worm and suet – and the ants here go ballistic for everything but straight up seed – so I needed to get a few more ant moats to protect the feeders.Previously I had nabbed this lovely number: It cost twice as much and I figured it was cute but I didn’t NEED a cute umbrella…
Arrived Early but Not as Described or Well Designed The positive is that is arrived aday earlier than scheduled.The negatives:– It is it is NOT 5 inches, but 3.5 inches in diameter–a big difference. I got this only because I wanted to try a wide moat.–The hook on top is attached to a flat plastic connector with a circular opening. When you try to carry or hang it with no feeder on the bottom, it tips back and forth by rocking aong the top of the circular hole. I’ve naver had a moat that did that before.
The worst ever This is, by far, the worst ant moat ever. The hook at the top is not fixed to the moat allowing the moat to tip and spill water (which gets dirty, of course) on the feeder below or, much worse, onto my face and eyes! A tiny leaf fell into the moat and stuck to the bottom causing an imbalance so that the moat wouldn’t stay level and the water just dumped out. Not recommended. There are much better options available at a comparable price.
