One of the most popular feeders on the market, the Perky-Pet Pinch-Waist glass feeder showcases the fascinating behavior and beauty of nectar-loving hummingbirds. The traditional bottom-fill feeder is also large enough for several hummingbirds at once, with four feeding ports and a removable four-way perch.
The hummingbird feeder includes yellow guards to keep bees out.
Nectar is stored in the clear, shatterproof glass reservoir, which makes it easy to monitor nectar levels (the reservoir stores up to 8 ounces total). The reservoir also unscrews easily from the feeder base for quick cleaning and filling. For best results, clean the hummingbird feeder with a mild soap and water solution at least twice a week, more often in very warm climates or seasons.
Online maps are available to help you track hummingbirds’ migration patterns.
Attracting Hummingbirds
The feeder is easy to mount thanks to the included hanger, which suspends from nearly any branch or hook. To attract more hummingbirds, users should locate the feeder away from sun and wind. Sun may cause the nectar mixture to turn bad, while wind may swing the feeder around, causing the mixture to spill. Tying a red ribbon on the feeder wire or pole may also help hummingbirds find the feeder, as will adding a water source, such as a birdbath or bird waterer.
Hummingbird Season
Start adding nectar to your feeder in early spring. Hummingbirds typically begin their journey north around March or April, as the warm weather begins. They remain in the region throughout the summer months, and begin to migrate back south once the flowers cease blooming and insects are scarce. By late September, almost all hummers have moved on to warmer climates for the winter. Online migration maps are a great way to track when the hummingbirds will be arriving in your area.

Excellent Feeder, Excellent Price I love this feeder and so do the hummingbirds! Last year I had a different type (plastic bottle and without perches) and only had the occasional hummingbird. This year I bought one of the Perky Pet Pinch Waist feeders and I had a hummingbird in less than 20 minutes, within a week I bought two more to keep up with demand. I like the design of the feeder – the “pinched waist” gives it a little bit of character, and the size is large enough to be practical without being invasive. The three…
One of my least favortie hummingbird feeders The fact that this is one of the most popular hummingbird feeders on the market is mostly due to its wide availability, cheap price, and gaudy styling rather than its quality. I used these feeders for years before discovering better designs, and I came to hate them. The first thing I noticed was that they’re hard to clean, with too many small parts and hard-to-reach tubes and crevices. It takes way too long to take the feeder apart, get all the parts clean, and reassemble it.
Hummers Love It Just bought the second feeder. Yes, it does require some cleaning, but I now have a fresh one ready to hang while I wash the first feeder. Inexpensive and the birds are lapping up my homemade nectar-no red dye !!!!
