Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. What criteria should I use when selecting a hummingbird feeder?
A. Make sure it is one that will be easy to clean and fill, especially since you will need to clean the feeder every few days. If you are worried about bees and wasps or ants invading the feeder, purchase a hummingbird feeder with bee guards.
Q. How do I clean my hummingbird feeders?
A. Hummingbird feeders need to be cleaned every 1-2 weeks. Use hot water and a bottle brush, along with mild soap; be sure to rinse thoroughly. The Perky-Pet cleaning mop is specifically designed for the purpose of cleaning hummingbird feeders, and is very convenient to use. This cleaning mop can also be used on seed feeders and oriole feeders for those small, tight spaces that are difficult to reach.
Q. What is the importance of providing water for hummingbirds?
A. Hummingbirds need fresh, clean water just as much as they need nectar. Hummingbirds stay healthy by using water not just for drinking, but also bathing, cleaning their feathers and to remove parasites. Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide hummingbirds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it. In hotter climates or seasons, providing water for hummingbirds makes it easy for them to have access to a water source and retain their energy.

a good looking hummer feeder, but dont be fooled i was very happy to see such a good looking hummingbird feeder. couldnt wait to get to set this thing up because of its looks and capacity and ease of cleaning. then i found out after about 3 weeks of watching my hummers attempting to feed from it but in the end avoiding it. first i thought it was the color of the flowers white and yellow but after closer inspection, this base is made of galvanized metal and when u add ur nectar it will have a reaction with the galvanizing in the base making…
My hummers avoid this feeder I have 7 feeders hanging on my back patio right now. The three most popular – and it DOES appear that hummers have preferences – are red plastic Humzingers. Two less popular are Perky-Pet green glass, but they do get some hummers. When my kids gave me this one, at least I thought that it’s going to be easy to clean, but also had high hopes that it would do a brisk business.
Waste of Money Really this one deserves a – 10 rating. I have anywhere from 40 to 80 hummingbirds at a time – Have 6 of the large window mounts, and then 3 hummingbird feeders on a pole. I did have this one but they will not eat out of it. My husband even painted the base red thinking that would help. Still they will not eat out of it even when all the other feeders are empty. I don’t know what it is about this feeder but believe me it’s a waste of money. Very cute just if you want your hummingbirds to…
I just need a jar #783 seed feeder.
