Almost five stars for design, but beware brittle plastic components Ordered this feeder after seeing it on the explore.org Bella Hummingbird website and witnessing how the hummers visiting this feeder really make frequent and harmonious use all day long.Excellent design for these reasons. This feeder does not have the little bee guards featured on the Perky Pet hummingbird feeder; no little loose parts to detach or disappear or get blown away by the gardener. (A hooded oriole took off with one of my Perky Pet bee guards last spring.) Another plus is…
Would be a great feeder if not for a frustrating design flaw! I purchased the smaller version of this hummingbird feeder a couple of years ago and it was wonderful. Costa’s and Anna’s hummingbirds were on it all day long. They love the little perches! I dropped the smaller version and it shattered, so I went looking for a replacement. I found this one, which is almost identical but is quite larger. The first one arrived broken so they sent me another one. The wide mouth glass jar and ant moat and small perches make this a great feeder. However, the design…
Doesn’t work for me I don’t know what it is about this feeder but the yellow flowers get a blackish tar like substance from the birds feeding. I have other feeders and none of them do this so I’m thinking it must be the plastic. Since you can’t clean with soap, I use a brush and hot water and sometimes a toothpick to get some of that substance out of the flower. I won’t order this one again.
