In order to prevent damage and leakage, do not screw the bottle onto the base too tightly. Screw it on until it just touches the base and then stop. It does not require a tight seal since the nectar flows from the mouth of the bottle into the base.

Beautiful, well made feeder. I was beyond thrilled with this hummingbird feeder. The glass is heavy duty and should last a lifetime and the base is sturdy. The colors are beautiful and I couldn’t get the feeder up fast enough before the hummers were right there trying it out. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
Wouldn’t recommend this ! Lovely, but bottom metal part rusted out within two months
