Excellent hummingbird feeder – if don’t use the basin cover!!!! The Best-1 feeder is one of my favorite feeders. I have been using the Best-1 feeder for about 20 years. I purchase several each year for attrition (occasional clumsy breakage) and to give as gifts.I DO NOT USE THE FEEDER’S BASIN COVER which has holes that comes with this feeder and ‘sits’ between the red dish and the glass jar (see this deadly reason and reason for 4 star rating BELOW.). I just omit the cover and fill the jar with sugar water (see recipe below), then screw on the…
How many times must I review this purchase? The name “Best-1” describes this feeder and is also the reason I have purchased them for years (currently have 12 on hand; of these 6 are currently in use, 3 are for back up quick fills, and 3 need new bottoms). Received item, as usual from this seller, securely wrapped, but not overpackaged in a timely manner. Nice new touch: lines on the bottle show how many hummers have sipped the provided amount. Not What We Had Hoped We live in the Puget Sound area of western Washington state. We bought this feeder specifically because of the supposed inability of bees to get to the nectar, like they did on our last feeder.After hanging for just three days, you can see the results from the photo. We have seen just one hummingbird come briefly to the feeder but literally dozens of honeybees. They love it! They can stick their whole head in the holes and with their 1/16 inch long tongues they can reach the nectar…
