  1. Does the Job…Easy to Install So far, so good! We had a major unprecedented thaw and lots of wet here in Minnesota in February. As a result, my bird feeder…which has been in the ground just on it’s pole for two years…suddenly came out of the ground and keeled over.   2. Serious stability – exactly what I needed I bought this ground socket to connect to the 1-inch Erva pole and platform top I bought at a local feed supply store for my fly-through bird feeder. As others have commented, this is a heavy duty base that provides excellent stability for the pole and feeder. I inserted a heavyweight screwdriver through the holes in the top to provide the necessary leverage to get it fully twisted into the ground.   3. Not used as intended but worked perfectly! I didn’t buy this as a one time use I got it to “drill” holes into the ground for bird house poles I created out of EMT conduit. It works even better than I expected. I set the pole at the depth of the auger and then pounded them in a bit further (if you do this make sure to flatten the end so the pole doesn’t spin). For anyone who might consider using this as an auger like I did I would caution that you consider the soil your “drilling” into. Our yard is hard but not clay, so,…
