He set out to design a bird feeder that would baffle even the brainiest squirrel and so The Nuttery was born! Over 20 years later, our first feeder, the Original is as popular as ever with sales exceeding 1 million worldwide. The Nuttery feeders – English innovation and design for the American consumer. I really wanted to like this and it is very cute I really wanted to like this and it is very cute, but only little birds can eat from it. The cage holes are too small for small woodpeckers, and the entire feeder is too small for large woodpeckers to hang on to. If you are getting this to feed woodpeckers, choose something else.
It’s a great feeder — I’ve never managed It’s a great feeder — I’ve never managed, before this, to put out suet in a way that only birds would have access to it. This feeder does it. But it’s important for new users to know that birds don’t necessarily know how to use it when they first encounter it. We put the suet cakes on the outside of the container for the first week. The birds started eating them (as did the squirrels). We then moved the suet to its intended place and the birds followed! They love it! The squirrels are…
Beautifully made, but rejected by the birds. This is a beautifully-made bird feeder of high quality. However… the birds won’t go in it to eat the suet. We have an older version that is cylindrical inside and out (this one is oval-shaped overall, with a suet-cake-shaped insert), and the birds seem to be more comfortable going inside the cage, I think because there is more room to move around. We bought this because of the suet-cake-shaped insert, and it works beautifully, but the birds just don’t like it!
