All metal, can be sterilized. Great feeder, as it is all metal and can be sterilized between fillings. You must sterilize finch feeders to avoid the eye disease that is wiping out so many goldfinches. I also like the small size because fewer birds feed at it at a time, limiting any possible spread. I sterilize mine by pouring boiling water over it after washing thoroughly in soap and water and then let it sit in the sun to dry for the UV. Sometimes I soak it in bleach or vinegar, too. Loving This Finch Feeder! Only day 2 with this little feeder and the finches are loving it too! I found it to be extremely well made with an all metal construction, easy to fill and clean with removable top and bottom caps, perfectly sized so the seed will not end up getting moldy or going bad before it’s eaten up and it looks great hanging in my garden!
