Very effective! Very effective. I bought these for all of my hummingbird feeders because the ant moats that were built into the feeders dried out too quickly. One of my feeders was infested with ants with a thick trail of ants extending down the “S” hook I hung the feeder from. I hung this at the bottom of the “S” hook, cleaned and rehung the feeder. I left all the ants on the “S” hook but they never ventured down from the “S” hook onto the ant guard and within about an hour…
No moats to keep filled I’ve been using these ant guards for years. Unlike others, they use an insecticide barrier inside the shell, rather than a water-filled moat. So there is no bother with keeping a moat filled.My one gripe is that the plastic hook is a bit thick to get through small screw eyes, but this is not a serious shortcoming. It just takes a little work, or you can use a wire tie.Recommended.
