A durable feeder I just bought the third feeder of this type, for different locations, not because they needed to be replaced. These feeders live up to the claims–they are all metal and have stood up well to both squirrels and raccoons. Squirrels can get to the seeds, but they do not damage the feeder. Cardinals and finches are the most frequent visitors, but other feeder birds, such as chickadees and nuthatches also use it. Birds like it and squirrels don’t Set this up on a metal crook and the first day had a beautiful Blue Jay and many other birds visiting. The squirrels have made many attempts to access the food, but without success.
Quite heavy and a pain to till – but – it holds a lot of seed and is sturdy. PROS: Holds a lot of seed so you don’t have to fill it often. Finches like it – Grosbeaks can land on the rim but cannot get to the seed because their beaks are too fat to fit through the small mesh – I feel sorry for them as it’s a big tease – they keep trying and trying but can’t get to the seed. I haven’t seen anything larger than a Grosbeak land on the rim/perch – I don’t think they’d have room to fit. I have a lot of Dove and they never even try which is what I had hoped for as I have…
