The Insight Clean Seed Tall Silo Feeder remains on the outside of the cage while the extending food cup goes between the bars and into the cage. The Base screws onto the cage to guarantee a secure fit on horizontal or vertical barred cages. This Feeder has a guard that keeps hulls and debris inside the cage. The perfect feeder for everyday use with no mess and easy refill. Dishwasher safe.

Irritating! I am writing a review on the PRODUCT not the seller. First of all, I bought this exact same Silo bird feeder at Petco so my parakeet wouldnt make a mess. Worst mistake ever. It seemed like a great product, advertising that it doesnt spill seeds and keeps seed husks. BIG LIE. There is a minor design flaw which causes a major problem. There is a small gap between the cage and the feeder. Its not noticeable until you pour in the seeds. The seeds scatter everywhere! The seeds fall through the tiny…
Not at all good for finches I bought several of these feeders looking for a more sanitary feeder than bin feeders which the birds mess in. These feeders are easy to install and easy to fill. However, the tray threshold is much too low and the birds simply empty the feeder completely by spilling the seed over the edge, in an hour or so, and all of the seed ends up on the floor of the cage. So, most of the seed is wasted. These products need a design overhaul to be useful. I would not buy again.
Messy if you use small feed (seeds/pellets) This feeder has a gap between two parts – the base part on the outside of the cage and the base part on the inside of the cage. The width of the gap is roughly the thickness of cage bars. If you use small pellets or seeds, a little of the feed can spill out of the gap. It spills out when you first pour seed into the tube and more can work its way out if you tap the feeder. In my case, the feed doesn’t go to the bottom of the cage, it spills onto the floor. So, I definitely don’t recommend…
