Good product…. but measure the inside of your rail top. I ordered two of the hooks for the deck of our new house. They came on time and packaged appropriately. The material and workmanship of the hooks is great! The top of our deck rail has only about an inch hangover where the hook is supposed to attach. Unfortunately that is not enough space to attach the clamp safely but the other side has plenty of room for the substantial clamp to attach to. Great, but mind the nut. Only thing to mention (and it’s actually pretty obvious, I just didn’t think about it) is that it’s not actually 2 inches of clearance, it’s 2 inches less ~1/4 inch, to account for the nut on the end of the screw. This is actually shown (kind of) in the picture, but there you go. Luckily the location I put it in turned out to be ok with 1.75 inches clearance.
Just About Straight Up! The angle is exactly as shown, which means that things suspended don’t really clear the deck/porch. I had to put the hook in my vice and bend it to more of a 45 degree angle to get the bird feeder to actually clear the deck and hang over the vegetation. Fortunately the hook bends under force and doesn’t break.
