Paired this feeder with one for larger birds I’ve only had this feeder for a couple of weeks and will give it 5 stars if it performs as well over time as it performs today. Works as advertised to keep out larger birds. Don’t know about squirrels yet, but I don’t see any way they can get through the cage to access the seed. It took a little while for the birds to get comfortable with this new feeder, but they seem to like it now.
This bird feeder works great and keeps out the squirrels This bird feeder works great. Keeps out the squirrels and is perfect for chickadees and tufted tit mice. I use straight black oil sunflower seed, or sunflower mixed with safflower. The birds love it and have no difficulty entering or leaving. As a bonus, the outer cage structure seem to frustrate house sparrows and that’s a great bonus if you are plagued by common sparrows. If squirrels are a problem, you will love this feeder.
I have two good tips to offer Yes this Feeder is Expensive but worth every penny to keep those pesky Blue Jays away from the Little birds chow. I have two good tips to offer, I buy some peanuts and crush them in a sock (with a hammer) them mix them into the Sunflower seed and the Chickadees and Nuthatches and Titmice go crazy over them. I also smear Peanut butter just above the top feeder ports with a long wooden spoon and they go crazy for that also, plus those clever Blue jays who can figure out just about anything feeder…
