Quality “metal” birdbath? Not really. . . From afar, this birdbath does look nice, and it does serve its purpose. Previously, I used a deeper bowl for a birdbath/drinking container, but I always worried about the little critters slipping in and drowning, so I decided to give this a try. . . It is 14.25 inches in diameter, 4.5 inches in height. . .but only weighs about 2 lbs. Very easy to clean, perfect for my needs, although surprisingly lightweight plastic for the price There aren’t too many ground bird baths so this is exactly what I was looking for. The plastic bin is very light and not especially sturdy so if you expect large animals to mess with it at night I wouldn’t choose this one. But if not, it’s nice that it’s so easy to take inside and wash out, quick and easy. The price does seem awfully high for such a simple, lightweight design, but it’s the best type I could find for my needs.
Keeps the critters out of the regular bird bath. This little ground-level bird bath keeps the squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, and whatever we do not see in the night from needing to climb into the regular bird bath. It leaves the tall bird bath cleaner for bird bathing and drinking. It is easily taken out of its ring–every day–for cleaning and small enough to be filled from a jug. All in all, it is a time and yuck saver.
