Bright, rugged, surprising field width, sharpness is OK I’m not usually into roof prism binocs…the field width is usually low…but these have decent field width. Color and brightness are good. Contrast is good, sharpness… good (not excellent). They have wide eyepiece openings and very little “wink” (they don’t shut off your view when eye placement is a bit off). Field depth is pretty good, too. Net effect: you can whip these out and have a look quicker than most binoculars. Very handy in the woods or stadium or even a museum. These are…
great for kids… surprisingly good for adults too i tend to get pretty nice binocs (several hundred dollar range) and use them professionally (rainforest ecology). got these for my 6 and 4 year olds. perfect for them as they can be dropped, dropped in water, etc. without concern. they also fit their inter-pupil distances without problem, are light weight, easy to manage. the younger kid’s fingers don’t quite make it to the focus knob and the focus is a bit stiff (but that’s good) and so i have to say that for the cash… they are amazing…
Well built, rugged construction, very good value I use binoculars for birdwatching and have long-term experience with mid-range models from Pentax and Nikon in the US$200+ range. I have also purchased cheaper and smaller Pentax models in the us$70 range for general use. While I have been very satisfied with the optics of these cheaper models, they do not have the same rugged ‘rubber armoured’ build quality of their more expensive cousins and are also not waterproof.
