About Roof Prism Binoculars:
The prism system of a binocular reduces the size needed to contain a long optical path and turns what would be an upside-down image right-side-up. In roof prism binoculars, the prisms overlap closely, allowing the objective lenses to line up directly with the eyepiece. The result is a slim, streamlined shape in which the lenses and prisms are in a straight line. Roof prism binoculars are less bulky and more rugged than an equivalent porro model.

Better than I expected I just use these binoculars for general recreation, spectator sports, and occasionally observing my next-door neighbors’ spats. (C’mon, don’t say you’ve never been tempted.) Several web reviews recommend 10 X 42 for this kind of viewing. For this price, you’re not getting professional-quality optics – but they’re VERY GOOD. Only your pet eagle will know the difference. The image is very stable and clear. The accessories included are nice to have.
Great Binoculars for Price! I bought these for my son to bird watch. They have a real nice professional feel to them and yet they are not huge and bulky. They have some coating on them that makes them nice to hold. All around they are a great deal for $50
