The Vari-Craft Avian-1 bird feeder without a pole. The huge, three gallon seed capacity requires only weekly filling. A vented reservoir eliminates condensation and moldy seed in the hopper. Powder coated aluminum reservoir and base. Vinyl coated wire cage stops pesky squirrels from raiding your feeder. Only small songbirds have access to seed. Excludes larger starlings, grackles and jays. 11″ diameter cage.

  1. Love this feeder! This is a BIG feeder and holds a lot of seed. It is very sturdy and well made. My first one lasted several years till a bear got it when I brought it out too early before winter….nothing survives a bear….my mistake. I love that I can put so much seed in it that I dont have to go out in freezing cold weather to add seed all the time. Also keeps the big hog birds out and if you have squirrels, they can’t get in. I have told friends about it and they have purchased one and love it also…

  2. I’ve had for almost 5 years. This feeder is made by Woodlink. I’ve had this feeder for about five years. PROS–holds a LOT of seed. I’ve got lots of hungry birds and it’s great to have such a large capacity feeder. No rust. Has held up very well despite brutal NE Ohio winters and being dropped or falling several times. CONS–I use hulled sunflower seeds. When the feeder is full, it’s quite heavy. Something to keep in mind when mounting. You’ll need a substantial hook or post and muscles. Seed gets wet in rainy weather…

  3. A fine feeder with a significant user problem. Enormous seed capacity; sturdy and well built; birds seem comfortable with it; varmits stay away.There is an annoying anon and because of these it lost stars. The top that you open to add seed is anchored by the loop hanging strap and fastened to the opening by spring clips that must be pushed upward(one on each side of the hanger in order for the top to be raise high enough to make the opening accessible.
