Step 1. All old seed need to removed first.
Step 2. Make a light water/bleach solution (10 parts water to 1 part bleach). You can simply use a light detergent.
Step 3. Take a small screwdriver and release the screw that keeps the perches stable. Gently remove each perch from the metal base.
Step 4. Soak the feeder inside the solution and Scrub the feeder Gently. Allow the feeder to dry.
Step 5. Clean the bottom/base of the feeder thoroughly.
Step 6. Spread mulch pieces of wood bark as a bed for the seed in the bottom of the feeder, replace mulch when soiled.
Step 7. Wash your hands after cleaning

Squirrel resistant I really like this feeder. For the price, you can’t beat it. I originally bought a bird feeder from Wal-Mart for around the same price, but it wasn’t squirrel resistant. The squirrels in my back yard figured that out fast and ate all my seed.This one is doing a much better job of feeding the birds and not the squirrels.
