  1. Still my “go to” guide I used to read this guide when I was a kid and I loved it. Once I got into birding years later as an adult I got it, but then I started to think that maybe it was a bit too old school and outdated so I bought about 5-6 other field guides. For me this is still the best as a field guide. I like some of the other books for how they group birds by colors, and of course the Sibley books are simply beautiful, but when I’m out in the field, I still think this book is the best at pointing out the field…

  2. I like this 3rd edition because the version with the paper … I like this 3rd edition because the version with the paper cover fits nicely in my big pocket. Is raggedy as it is, I still prefer it. The other covers for the 3rd edition do not fit well in my pocket. The later (4th) version of this guide is larger and does not fit at all into my pocket. What is the best field guide? The one you’ll use.
