Don’t wash it! First of all, this feeder does look really nice. The problem is that I washed it, and the red coating just melted off. It came off like strips of cellophane. A hummingbird feeder that is not washable? So disappointing!
Nice looking feeder until you wash it. I bought by feeder from TSC so hadn’t read the reviews. It looks nice & we have a female ruby throated hunmer that is back & forth all day but like another reviewer said, the red paint peels off when you wash it. The temperatures here in Middle Tennessee are in the 90’s for most of the summer so we wash & refill every 2-3 days to prevent the nectar from spoiling & after only 2 months it is already starting to look pretty shabby. Would making this out of red glass been that much more expensive…
NOT RED GLASS There are a few people here who made statements like “the red glass looks pretty”. Well its not red glass. It is CLEAR GLASS with a cheap cellophane type red coating. The coating will start to come off almost immediately. Like when you pull the price tag off. yes that immediate. Then as you clean it with soap and water and bleach the cellophane like coating will comes off in sheets. Then you will have a half clear and half red hummingbird feeder that will not look so pretty.
