Seed Saver Technology
Openings in the bottom section of the metal mesh shroud align with the seed tray, providing birds access to the food. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight automatically forces the shroud down, closing access to the seed. Squirrels and some large birds are blocked from accessing the seed, but are not harmed in any way.
Negative Grip Tube
Even more, the feeder includes a negative grip tube, which prevents squirrels from grabbing the wire hanger with their hind legs, hanging down alongside the feeder, and defeating the closing mechanism.
Seed Ventilation System
Traditional transparent seed tube designs trap solar energy and block the escape of hot, moist air. The seed ventilation system lets hot and humid air escape through vents at the top
of the feeder as fresh air enters the seed ports and openings on the bottom of the seed tube. Birdseed remains fresher and attracts more birds.

Place the Feeder Almost Anywhere
Place your feeder just about anywhere–no more worrying about those pesky squirrels. Position the feeder by your deck, in a nearby tree, or over a favorite window for those great close-up views. The bird feeder hangs easily with the use of wall brackets, branch hooks, or extension hooks.
Be sure to allow for at least 16 inches (40 cm) of clearance around the feeder. This clearance will prevent a squirrel from reaching over from a nearby foothold to access the seed without placing its weight on the feeder. Forcing the squirrel to climb all the way onto the feeder triggers the closing mechanism, preventing access.

Literate Squirrels I believe the many squirrels that live in my back yard can read and thus know of this product. They are really smart and have outwitted or destroyed all previous birdfeeders.
Nice Product, Good Quality I just received my feeder this week and within an hour the birds were using it. It accommodates all types of birds, even the larger Cardinals. I had a squirrel problem which prompted me to try this feeder. I have only rated this product with a 4 because I have not seen the squirrels to directly interact with it yet. Perhaps that is a testimony in itself, it seems to be well thought out construction-wise. Time will tell.
Works well/low volume of seed This feeder works as well as the other “Squirrel Buster” feeders in preventing squirrels from accessing the bird seed. The only downfall I see is that it only holds 3/4 quart of seed (half of what the “Squirrel Buster Classic” holds). A ‘plus’ is that you can adjust the weight mechanism for different weight birds, something the Classic does not allow you to do.
