I wouldn’t recommend spending the money on premade food and just make … I made up the food by the directions on the back and place the feeder in the back where I had been getting the hummingbirds and for a week they would come around but wouldn’t drink it. I never saw the liquid go down at all so I thought I would try again and the same thing happened with the next batch. Decided I needed to go back to buying the sugar and making my own. Now it is hard to keep the feeder full.
Iridescent birds tread air around the feeder. We hung the feeder today, filled it with the sugar nectar, and somehow the word got out. In a back yard that had never seen a humming bird, a few came to sip. Where were the birds yesterday, and how did they know to come today? A mystery, but all enjoyed watching (and counting) them. The old folks seemed to enjoy it more than the children. Well, children have more pressing matters to attend to than their elders.
