The Birds Like it! I like it, too. However, this unit is a replacement for a nearly identical one which I shattered one bitterly cold day trying to slap some ice and snow off of it. The difference: the feeding ports of my former feeder were made of metal and unbreakable, while this unit has plastic feeding ports which will break. Maybe I read the description wrong, not noticing that the ports are plastic, I don’t know. It does the job, however. The squirrells enjoy the seed tray, helping them maintain their…
Not The Best I will agree that the birds love this feeder. As do the squirrels…they have no problem hanging on and getting (more than) their share. What I don’t like is how easily the top separates from the tube. More than once the birds, or a squirrel, have managed to pull the feeder away from the top and the whole thing has fallen spilling the contents all over the ground. (Squirrel heaven whenever that happens.) I would not purchase this item again.
Pretty, inexpensive, and easy. I got this feeder to upgrade from a homemade feeder that was falling apart. It is a beautiful copper color, it is easy to fill and to clean, and the birds love it. We get bluebirds, cardinals, finches, sparrows, wrens, and more. Being able to switch between thistle and seed is wonderful, as well has having the posts and the perch at the bottom. It isn’t shabby at all, and if it lasts a year or three, the cost is absolutely worth it.
